Design ‘recipe books’:
color and swatch concepts

The fabrics and color arrangements are our favorite and most important part of the design process.

At prominent textile shows like the Premier Vision textile show in Paris, we pay particular attention to the textural fabric collections of other designers, make purchases and enjoy dialogues with leading designer teams.

We source through techniques of the various collections, looking for new fabrication techniques to be included.

Images from previous travel informs and defines our color atmospheres and patterns; leading to the grouping of textiles and colors.

Images of nature, temples, markets, food, idiomatic terms, one-word associations, and discoveries of old textiles direct the choices of fabrics and details.

Traveling, and an ongoing passion for immersion in the cultures of Asia, the US, and Europe enables our personal – and organizational – sense of global fashions, trends, and markets.

These are recorded in written and pictorial journals for use on projects and while working alongside clients, weavers and other designers.
